Updating system please wait
It's not a hard drive issue as the install is unsuccessful on both my primary and secondary drives. After waiting for several minutes (at one point I left it there for an hour) at the 'Updating' screen, I have to shut down my computer using the Start Menu commands.Hi Cakewalk Gurus, I was wondering if anyone had run into this problem: upon running the Set-up for Studio 2004, the set-up hangs after loading the system files onto my hard drive, specifically at the 'Updating System Configuration, Please Wait...' screen. The hard drive light blinks like it's thinking for a few seconds, and then it's dead silent until I reboot.
I did qualify for a free upgrade to Studio 2, but I won't get it for 4 - 6 weeks and I don't think it's the full version. Make sure antivirus is not running and you should do a defrag before installing.I'm running a brand new Dell Dimension 4600 (2.8 Ghz Pentium IV, 512 Megs RAM, Windows XP Home) with a Direct Pro Q10.I've upgraded my Q10 drivers from 6.35 to 7.13 after several unsuccessful attempts and system restores. The upside to this is that you haven't had much time to start installing a bunch of programs and everything else before this started.
I'm sure this is what you did, but for others who may happen by in the future, after a factory restore the first thing you should do is install all the latest security updates from Windows Update; keeping in mind it may take 2-3 (or more) passes before you get them all.
